Tpo 43- Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific theories presented in the reading passage.
Both the reading and the lecture are about the Agnostids. The reading passage claims that there are three theories that show us how agostids may have lived. As opposed to, the lecturer who counters- argue that these theories are not convincing.
First of all, the reading states that the agnostids were free- swimmimg predatores because they fed themselves with small animals. Therefore, they could easily be categorized as predators. However, the professor cannot disagree more, reasoning that preditors have a good eye sight, so that help them to see those small animals and fed on them. As a result, the possibility of agnostids to be predators is ruled out because they have poor vision.
The second argument the author gives is that agnostids could have been seafloor dwellers because they have the ability to survive by scavenging dead organisms or grazing on bacteria.Similarly, as the seafloor dweller do. On the contrary, the teacher, refutes this viewpoint. He elaborates on by mentioning that seafloor dwellers stay in one location, they occupied small area. On the other hand, agnostids have been found in different locations and in long distances.
Finally, the writer claims that agnotids were parasites. They might have lived in primitive fish, so that could feed themselves. Nevertheless, the professor declare that being a parasite the growth should be limited. Therefore, they could not be widely spread. He goes on saying that the agnostids fossils are found everywhere and their population was large enough to say that they were not parasites.
In conclusion, the points made in the lecture contrast with the reading.
