The reading states that an old fossil structure that have been found inside 200-million-years-old was not created by bees and provides three reasons of supports. The professor, however, explains that the arguments are not convincing and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that no fossil remains of actual bees have been found that time. The professors opposes this point by saying that not finding fossils at that time does not mean that bees were not exist at that time. She says that trees are rare 200 million years but they are later.
Second, the reading states that thereare some doubts because of the absence of beeowering planets in that period. The professor refutes this point by saying that some bees use non-flowering foods. She says that bees feed on non-flowering poutry. Also, she mentions that befor existing flowering planet on the Earth there were some bees.
Third, the reading states that the fossilized structures found in Arizona are somewhat similar to nest chambers made by modern bees, they lack some of the finer details on bees'nests. The professor contends that analyze of chemical compostion shows that the fossil relates to modern bees.
