The passage ant the lecture both discuss pterosaurs-- an ancient group of winger reptiles. The reading claims that pterosaurs were not able to do powered flight. However the professor in the lecture challenges the suggestions started by the author and disproves all of the facts by providing them scientifically wrong.
First of all, the text indicate that reptiles such as pterosaurs were cold- blooded and had a slow metabolism. These kind of animals could not produce a lot of energy for powered flight. The professor refutes this and says that pterosaurs had a hair on bodies, hence, they were non cold- blooded animals, so the had enough energy for powered flight.
Secondly, the text puts out that pterosaurs were a large animals; that is why they could not to flap their wings fast to stay a lot of any length of time. The professor counter this point by saying that pterosaurs had a light bones that allow them to flight.
Last by not least, the reading points that pterosaurs had a weak back leg which did not allow them to run fast or jump to lunch themselves into the air.The lecture denies this fact and talks that pterosaurs used fore legs to launch themselves. Moreover, text compare birds and pterosaurs that use their back lag for launching, but according to the professor there are a lot of different between birds and pterosaurs.
