TPO-48 - Integrated Writing Task
The population of frogs is declining over years, and reading provides us three methods to solve the problem of declining frog populations. However, the professor in the listening claims that none of those three methods are practical, and she gives specific reasons to support her ideas.
Firstly, the reading argues that the use of pesticides harms frog which causes their population declined. On the other hand, professor refutes the reading stating that it is not economical good options. According to the professor, farmers who live near the frog habitats have to obey the strict rules will be less competitive to those farmers who live in other area and have a low yield.
Secondly, the reading suggest to use large scale treatments to protect sensitive frogs from infection of fungus. The professor holds the opposite view, stating that it is very difficult to capture each individual frogs and apply treatments on them. Besides, the fungus can be passed to their offspring, so the whole treatment project can be very complicated and expensive.
Thirdly, the reading passage claims that the frog habitats are threatened by human activities, such as excessive water use or draining of wetland. On the contrary, professor points out that the truth theat to habitats is global warming. Therefor, forbidding humans from using water and develop near the habitats can't help frogs to recover their populations.
