Reading and lecture discusses about techniques to save number of depleting frogs. Reading explained three methods to save population of frogs, but professor is not convinced by these methods.
First and foremost, reading states that farmers use pesticides to protect growth of crops cause detrimental effects on frog’s wellbeing. Lecture cast doubt on this statement; she thinks that diminishing use of pesticides is not beneficial option for farmers. As farmers need to harvest large number of crops to compete with other farmers, as a consequence farmers may not earn enough income.
Second, reading mention that widespread fungus growth leads to severe infection in frogs and contribute to depletion of frog habitat; and proposed that antifungal medications and heating treatment may aid in destructing harmful fungus. On the other hand, lecture refutes this method; she suggests that this treatment is very complex and economically not feasible. As this method requires capturing of each frog and treating them individually because infection is most likely inherit to young ones.
Finally, reading implies that human activity such as utilizing water and transforming wet-lands for development can cause catastrophic effects to habit of frog. While lecture believes that global warming seems to be predominant fact in plummeting number of frogs. Furthermore, she points out that harmful consequences of global warming endangered many other habitats and even extinction of some species. As a consequence, lecture successfully casts doubt on points made in reading.
