According to the author, many frogs species around the world have declined in numbers or even gone extinct due to changes in their environment. Thus, several methods have been proposed by the author to solve the problem of declining frog population. The professor, on the other hand, is somehow skeptical about the solutions proposed within the reading and she raises several doubts on each point made by the author.

In the first place, as it is believed that many frogs are being harmed merely by pesticides, the author asserts that is laws prohibited the farmers from using harmful pesticides near sensitive frog population, it would significantly diminish the harm pesticides cause to frogs. Contrary to what is argued by the aythor, the professor contends that this plan is not economically practical and is even unfair. She believes that the farmers job is really compatitive these days and day need to produce more and more crops. If some of the farmers have to follow the rules they probably will lose a huge portion of their crops each year which means that this plan seems to be unfair at the first glance.

In addition, the reading avers that there is a deadly fungus that has spread around the world and causes thickening of the skin of the frogs. It is obvious that frogs are dependent on water which is absorbed through their skin and if their skin is infected they may die of dehydration. A kind of treatment is proposed by the author which its efficiency refuted by the professor. She points out that applying this treatment needs an enormous amount of money, because each frog should get the treatment individually and more surprisingly its offspring does not get any protection against the fungus infection.

In the end, the author claims that we have intruded frogs teritory and used up their water resources, so if key water habitats such as lakes and marshes were better protected from excessive water use and development, many frog species would recover. The professor, rejects the last point by saying that the real threat is not human's excessive water use, but indeed it is the global warming. She states that if we prevet human being from fresh waters we only do the wrong thing. We really need to do something about the global warmin threat if we really do care about the frogs.
