The article states that the population of frogs have declined around the world which can leads to serious consequences for ecosystems and human health and provides three methods to solve the problem. However, the professor explains that the proposed solutions are not practical and refutes each of author's methods.
First, the reading explains that frogs are being harmed by pesticides and proposes prohibition law to stop the using of harmful pesticides by farmers. The professor refutes this solution by stating that this method is not economically feasible and is unfair. She states that if the farmers which are close to frogs habitats stop the using of chemicals, they will loss their competition power with farmers of other areas.
Second, the article claims that fungus is major factor in declining the frog population and medication and treatment should be used to kill fungus. However, the professor contends that treatment is not practical in large scale for each frogs so this solution is not economical and costs a lot.
Third, the reading avers that frog population are in decline because their nature are threatened, so people should save their habitats. The lecture opposes this point by saying that frog's living nature is not directly influenced by human activities such as excessive water use or development in that areas. The professor explains that destruction of habitats is because of global warming which leads to drying of wetland habitats.
