The reading and the Listening passage are both about how Humpback whales migrate for mating and food purposes using the stars. The reading and professor in the listening contradict each. The writer introduces three main reasons to explain the how the humpback whales use the stars to help them in the long migration way.
Fristy, The reading passage states that the humpback whales have complex brain structures which help then using the stars in their journey. On the other hand, the professor in the listening part totally refutes this postulate. He says that there is no real connection between the migration of the humpback whales using the stars and their complex brain structure. It seems fascinating but not convincing. he elaborates his opinion by mentioning the example of the birds migrate also without using the starts because of their brain structure. He mentions the example of the ducks which migrate using the star not because of their intelligence or their brain cognitive structure but because of the natural instinct.
their brain ability.
Secondly, the Reading passage states that the humpback whales use the stars in the migration and the is the only way that helps the whale especially during the night and the dark time. The writer also elaborates more on that points out the birds use the earth as a landmark in their migration. But the oceans are open wide and there are no landmarks can rely on, only the stars. However, the professor on the listening defeats this point. He says that the whales migrate in a straight line, not because the use of the stars but because of they have a biomagnetic structure in their brain. This biomagnetic, send external magnetic forces which help them to aware of the surroundings.
Thirdly, The postulate of using the hopping behavior to help the whales to migrate using the stars to navigate, and moreover keeping their heads up for some time. The tutor in the listening part contradicts this point. He states that the hopping to for other animals happen also during the daytime not only in the night. He elaborates his postulate by giving the example of the sharks. They are hopping and spying not to use the stars but sharks use hopping for hunting
To sum up, both reading and listening are both about the use of starts in the migration of the humpback whales, and both of them contradict each other.
