TPO 49Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific methods proposed in the reading passage.humpback whales

Both essay and lecture discuss the possibility of navigation by stars in Humbug whales. The author is of the opinion that these species use starts to navigate for three main reasons. On the other hand, the lecturer disagrees with these explanations. He believes none of these reasons can adequately prove the application of stars as navigators by whales.
First of all, the writer of the article suggests that since the whale's brain is involved, they are able to see stars and employ them to find their way. The professor, however, disagrees with this idea. He mentions that intellectual abilities have nothing to do with animals' navigating systems. Moreover, he points out that there are some other animals that use this method of navigation like dogs. Nevertheless, dogs have an ordinary level of intelligence. In fact, this skill is an intrinsic feature and doesn't relate to intellectual abilities.
Secondly, the author states that since whales move in the direct paths, and unlike other land animals, there is no landmark in water to follow, they probably follow stars. The lecturer rebuts this concept. He asserts that most of the animals take advantage of external stimuli to find their path. Wales also, like other animals, use earth magnetic field as navigation. The bio-magnetic organ in their brain enables them to pursue the earth magnetic field for that purpose
Finally, the essay implies that most of the whales float their heads up the water for several minutes. He believes they do this behavior in order to watch stars. The lecturer challenges this claim. He states that there are other animals that behave in the same way. For example, sharks sometimes put their heads out of water to find their prey. Furthermore, he points out that whale usually conducts this practice during the day, in which stars cannot be seen.
