The article talks about the companies try to receive a certificate which shows that these companies meet high ecological standards by conserving resources and recycling material.in this way states that American companies don't want to have this certificate and bring three reasons of support. however, the professor opposes this idea by rejects the article's reasons.
First, the reading passage claims that American companies don't want to have this certificate because they don't care about such this advertising. while the professor in contrary said that American consumers don't treat all the advertisement the same. he continues that by receiving this certificate, the consumers would react differently and would be motivated to buy this product.
Second, the essay states that by receiving this certificate the price of products is going to be increased. therefore, consumers won't buy them. the professor on the other side explains that although people prefer to buy a cheap one they care about the price when some product of other companies become cheaper than the main one. American people care about the preservation and protection of the environment.hence, they buy the product which has this certificate even it is more expensive than the product without it.
Third, the reading said that this certificate doesn't have any benefit to absorb foreign consumers, however, the professor said that even though that's might be correct, but other foreign competitor companies can absorb American consumer attention then spread through the country. thus it's necessary for American companies to have this certificate.
