TPO27-Little Ice age
The lecture and the passage discuss the reason of the little ice age.Although the passage claims that there are three theories for occuring this phenomena, the speaker refutes these ideas through a number of reasons which will be described in this report.
First of all, the passage points out that the augment of the warm weather which had been happend privous period has caused the disruption of ocean current, which has effected the earth's climate. The speaker, in contrast, rejects this by claimin that on those period a sudden cooling either in Europe or America and have been discoverd by the scientists. As a result, this sudden cooling cannot explain by the warmer period.
Furthermore, unlike the passage which states that the activity of volcanics and the large amount of their eruption could create a dust cloud which can block the sunlight; therefore, the temprature could decrease, the speaker argues that the eruption of the volcanic could create enough dust. She also mentions that a large amount of dust could create some visual effects which can be determined by the others easily, whereas there are no evidence of these visual effect, like colorful sunlight, on the reports. So, these eruptions was not strong enough to effete the climate.
Finally, although the passage says that decreasing of the human population caused to increase the forests; thus, the increasing of the carbon dioxide by the forests resulting to decrease of green house and the earth temperature as well, the professor disagrees by mentioning that diminish of the human population was fairly quickly and there was not enough time for grow a large number of trees. Hence, the number of the forests was not large enough to cooling the climate.
