tpo31-1

The main topic of both the reading and the lecture is a fossil skeleton of a dinasour was discoverd in china.

The article states that some paleontologists believe that the fossil is related to the feather, while critics thought suggested that the fossil skeleton is not feather and provides three reasons for support. However, in the lecture the professor refutes the idea presented in the passage and says that those reasons are not convincing and provides strong examples and clarifies the weaknesses that the idea has.

First, the passage posits that critics believe that the fine lines not related to any function for living dinasours. In fact, they belong to a dead dinasour after a volcanic ash. In contrast, the professor refutes this point by saying that there is no other evidences of decomposition in the same cite. In his opinion, these feathers were using for showing animals beauty.

Second, the reading says that the skeleton are similar to frills not feather. Nevertheless, the lecturer denies this, suggesting that there is a chemical different between frill and feather components. Feathers have a protein called Beta-carotein, but frills don't have this material in their structure.

Third, according to the articles opinion, animal uses feathors for flying or adjusting of their internal temperature. The professor doesn't agree with this point of view. She asserts that feathers have some other functions for different animals. She gives an example of a creature that has a long colorful feathers that uses them for attracting preys. Consequnetly, She believe that dinasours who have the white and orange color, employed those for display.

In conclusion, the points made in the lecture contradicted the central standpoint of the reading. No evidences of other decomposition in a same excavating place, lack of Beta-carotein in the frills, and using colorful feathers for absorbing preys from the lecture clearly demonstrates that the reading opinion about the excavated fossiles is in doubt.
