In this set of material, the reading states that glass of building can harm to birds because they cannot distinguish between glass and open air, so the reading brings up three solutions for preventing from this occurrence, however the lecture finds all solutions dubious and provides some evidence to advocate that these approaches are not effective. The information the professor provides contradicts the in fact outlined in the reading passage.
First, the reading claims that way glass is a type glass which is transparent in only one direction, so engineers can use it instead of regular ordinary glass. With this glass, the birds will not be able to see inside; consequently they understand that there is a barrier for their flying. In contrast the lecture contends that these types of glasses can reflect the image of sky. In fact they act as a mirror and since the birds do not discern the mirror too; hence this glass can be dangerous for them.
Second, the reading passage declares that colorful design can be another useful method. A thin strip painted will be created on window and it can help birds not to fly toward the window. On the contrary, the professor argues that other parts of window are without paint, consequently the birds again fly toward these parts and they hit and even if whole of the window is being painted, it will be a big problem for occupants.
Third, the reading declares that using magnetic field is a great solution for birds. This magnetic field works as a compass for them; conversely the professor believes that magnetic field works in long distant for birds like the places out of city and in the winter for finding food or direction. In short distance like a city, this approach will not be appropriate.
