In the lecture, the professor talked about the benefits of electronic records. she disputed the three advantages, and she cited the several reasons showing that electronic records are not as well as the passage claimed.

First, she said the reducing cost is not significant. There are still many paper records in a clinic, not just medical records. Moreover, most doctors still used to writing on paper instead of typing on computers.

Second, the professor said doctors used to handwriting in front of patients and thus did not prevent errors as the passage argued. The handwriting records would usually be entered by other staffs later, so the writing or transcribing errors still exist.

Third, the professor dismissed the passage's argument that aiding research would be easier and less expensive. she claimed that the researchers are still hard to get access to patients' medical records because of the privacy law. Under the law, they should get patients' agreements and the procedure is long and complicated.
