The reading claims that many frogs in the world have declined in numbers or even gone extinct due to changes in their environment.and it has serious consequences for the ecosystems in which frogs live. Several methods have been proposed to solve the problem of declining frog population. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas mentioned in the reading passage dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
First, The author argues that frogs are being harmed by pesticides and they have to prevent insects from damaging farm crops such as corn and sugarcane.it would significantly reduce the harm pesticides cause to frogs. Conversely, the lecturer finds it highly questionable due to the fact that from economically point it is unfair. Agriculture’s severe disadvantage so they lose more crops.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that fungus has spread around the world with deadly effect. Those treatments, if applied on a large scale, would protect sensitive frog population from infection. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that they have to use fungus for each frog and it doesn't prevent frog and they have to use it again and again to each new generation of frogs.
Finally, the reading asserts that natural habitats are threatened water and if key water habitats such as lakes were better protected from excessive water use and development, and frog species would recover. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that another important issue is global warming and it contributes much water so the frogs can live easily with the effect of global warming on the level water in our planet.
