The reading text and lecture are both about the large plain of Jar found by the archaeologist near by the Southeastern Asia country Laos. While, the author presents some theories about the real purpose of these jars, the lecturer disputes all these theories and claim that real purpose of these jars is still mystery for the scientists.
First of all, reading suggests that, ancient peoples were used this jar for the fermentation process. It is also states that, these jars were constructed by the king to prepare the drink at time celebration of the victory. However, the lecturer refutes this claim and argue that, the original fermentation vessels are made from the clay, But this jar is made up of the stone. It is very expensive and time-consuming top make stone jar for fermentation. Additionally, He said that, if there is east way was available for the construction of the clay vessels, then why the they choose that tough way of fermentation.
Secondly, reading text claim that, major purpose of these jars was the water storage. Travelers were using this water during their migration for making trade. In contrast to that, professor points out that, trade route on which those travelers were travelled was near by the river. So, they did not require any additional source of water during their travelling hours.
In last, writer believes that, Jars are originally used for as the tomb, to store the human remaining like some precious artifacts. On the other hand, tutor is opposing this claim and goes on to say that, if those jars were used as a storage purpose of some valuables like beads, golden artifacts, then it must have the lead to cover the jar. Although, the archaeologists who are working on that site has not found anu kind of cover, not even in the nearby area.
