In this set of material, the reading passage claims that an international organization has proposed issuing certification to wood companies. The companies which receive this certification, will meet high ecological standards by protecting resources and recycling material and they will be able to attract their costumers by advertising, however the reading believes that American wood companies will not be willing to do it and then brings three reasons for this suggestion, however the professor finds all the reasons fragile and provides some evidences to advocate that American wood companies will tell welcome to it.
First, the reading states that American people do not usually rely on advertising; in contrast the lecture argues that American people have a high diagnostic power between two thing with high quality and poor quality. It is easy for them to distinguish the advantages of this certification.
Second, the author of reading declares that ecocertification wood will be expensive for companies and they will be forced to rise up their products' price, on the contrary the professor contends that different price between two certificated and uncertificated products may be approximately 5 percent, consequently American people will would rather select the product which is worthwhile for environment, because they are concerned about protection from their surroundings.
Third, the reading believes that American people are inclined to American companies keep up with international marketing, however for competing with foreign companies, American companies need to certification while they can sell their products in United States with a high profit; however this view is challenged by the speaker. If American companies act slowly in capturing costumers, gradually international companies enter to United State and they can have an horrible impact on American companies.
