William Shakespeare work and life.
The article introduces the topic of the controversy and rumors about William Shakespeare’s existence. More specifically, the writer discusses that Shakespeare’s work was made by another author and he did not really exist. The lecturer in the listening passages disagrees. She believes that the world-while famous writer really existed and attack each of the claims made in the listening.
In the reading, the author begins by stating that one posible candidate is Francis Bacos. This is because the coincidences in some legal references in the poetry work between William’s and the previous writings of Bacon. The lecturer, however, disagrees. She states that, in fact, there are contradictions between the ideas of these both authors. For example, Bacon missundertood some of the ideas that Shakespeare exposed in his work, like astronomical believes at the time.
The author also claims that Christopher Marlowe is a poet who could be under Shakespeare name. First, he lived in the same period of time than William and it is believed that he faked his death to go away from some personal problems. Again, the lecturer believes there are flaws in the writer’s argument. The speaker holds that there is no reason for Marlowe to use another name in order to publish his work. Actually, he publicized his poems until his death with his own name. After that, there are a lot of sonets and poems under the name of Shakeaspeare.
Another reason why the author feels that William’s work was made by another writer is that there are acussations refered to Edward de Vere. This author’s work was exclusively for the noble class. Thus, the acussations started because since his desire to reach more audience, he had been working under the famous author’s name. The professor is doubtful that this is accurate. She puts forward the fact that this scenario is imposible since Edaward died before the Shakespeare’s work appeared. On the top of that the professor afirms that de Vere died in 1604, over 15 years before Willliam’s publications. She goes on to say that it is unlikely that they keep the work to be published after for one main reason: no one knew what kind of work Williams wanted to post.
