Motivation Letter

Dear Sirs, Madams,

With this letter, I hereby wish to apply and state my motivation for enrolling Master Degree in Communications at Sciences Po for the 2015 academic year. I appreciate this opportunity to introduce myself to your University and I perceive it as a perfect opportunity to support my application for getting Master Degree in Communications by your University. My name is Muhammad Ghalih, I am twenty two years old. I come from South Borneo, Banjarmasin, Indonesia. I am Bachelor Degree of Communication in Public Relations Department. I am very thankful to be born from a family which really care to me, especially for education. The education background of my grandfather, my grandmother, and my father are teacher. Education is success key in their life. Education has the great influence factor toward someone’s live quality. Education quality can be advanced by taking the higher education level.

Nowadays, I am still active in some organizations such as Television Medium Control or KMPS KAKTUS (Kelompok Masyarakat Peduli Siaran Kaktus) or in English, called The Care Society Group of Kaktus Broadcast. This organization is aimed to give knowledge and awareness to contribute in society under KPID (Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia Daerah), (Broadcasting Commission of Region Indonesia). I have become judger for KPID Award in South Borneo (an award for best local Television broadcast) in the year 2013-2014 and I am the youngest judger from 13 others judgers. Besides, I have been trusted to be the head of KMPS KAKTUS.

When I studied in college, I was the active one in organizations. Those things can be proven by my position in the college, such as the head of HIMAKOM (Himpunan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi / Student University Association of Communication Department). I got the successfulness when I became the head of HIMAKOM. I did not only bring HIMAKOM as organization that well known in college but also in the society. Besides, I got Djarum Scholarship which gave funding to study and some soft skill trainings such as National Building, Leadership Development, Character Building, Writing Competition, Public Speaking, Debate Competition, and Motivation Building. I am the lucky one because all of my families, teachers, lectures, friends and my region government support my plan to continue my study in France. I am given a chance to accept the scholarship in human resource development because in my region, especially in Tanah Laut Regency of South Borneo Indonesia, it is a region which develop various sectors which one of them is education sector.

As long as I have a chance, I will keep study and try to get education which has quality to develop my own ability. I want to continue my Master in France to get experience and feel the different culture there. Besides, France offers me quality education with International Master Degree which has been acknowledged globally.

As a Bachelor of Communication department that take concentration on Public Relations, I have willingness to enrich and develop my knowledge about Public Relations. Public Relations are the factual modern life. Professional Communication Service is totally needed in some sectors such as politic, sport, and avocation art. Also, in business environment, public relations role is for internal communication and external communication. Public Relations are a wide education where inside of it, there is knowledge about leadership in organization, communication technique, editing and writing. All of the criteria’s should be mastered in Public Relations.

When I was in college, I had a plan to go abroad, especially in France to take my Master, and I think it is the best way to go there. In the beginning, I have learned French language by myself and after finishing my study, I took intensive super course in Institute Francais Indonesia in order to master my French language to be better. I believe that by learning and understanding French language, it will make me easier to interact and communicate there. In Institute Francais Indonesia, I got much knowledge about how to study there. By listen the story of my friends that have ever studied there, it burns my desire and cannot wait to go to Napoleon country sooner or later.

I am very interested in Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris or Sciences Po. I would like to continue my study for Master in Communications. I personally believe, if I continue my study in Sciences Po, I can develop my ability and the main important point is that I can get experience from studying abroad and meeting the people from different countries. After reading information of university acceptance, written by English, I directly took a class in TEST- English School to learn and improve my English.

Indonesia needs human resource which has quality to face global competition and I am ready to compete with other students to learn in France and bring the name of Indonesia in International level. I will try hard to catch my dream to improve myself by keeping in studying, because I believe with knowledge I can help and give more positive contribution for other people, especially for Indonesian society. With my educational background and working experience, I strongly believe that I am suitable candidate for the programme. I have chosen this University as my first choice because of valuable scholarly resources and well-known reputation of the highly qualified education of the Sciences Po.
