Some people think that a sense of competition in children should be encouraged. Others believe that children who are taught to co-operate rather than compete become more useful adults. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Competition and co-operation are the two fundamental qualities required in the children to grow ahead. Some people give more importance on competition whereas some think that co-operation is more useful for children. In this essay, both views will be discussed before coming to balanced conclusion.
Being competitive offers unique advantages for children. The present world is the era of competition and in every sectors there is a huge competition. For example, in order to get the admission in the University one should be academically sound and competitive and much more is that large number of scholarships are distributed in the university on merit basis. Thus, when children are taught about the importance of competition, they are fully prepared and grab the advantages of being competitive ahead in their life.
On the other hand, it is also useful to learn the equally important virtue i.e. co-operation. In many places, lack of co-operation results in significant loss. For instance, when we are working in some company and if we need to finish the project before deadline, we require the co-operation from several team members of the company. If any person thinks of himself only and don't help other team members in the time of need, there could be the great loss in the company. Not only this, the person who don't co-operate could be fired from the company and is considered anti-social to the eye of others. Therefore, it is very much essential to foresee the co-operative nature of children well ahead.
In conclusion, children should be taught about the importance of competition and co-operation well ahead; however, more emphasis should be given on co-operation as lack of this virtue results in more painful damage to the one's career and life.
