according to the most recent research on parenting, caretakers tend to use three strategies for disciplining children. Power, withholding of affection and management
Three different strategies for disciplining children are demonstrated in the reading passage whereas the professor in the listening explains about differences in using power and management as two ways of disciplining. First of all, the reading says that one of the strategies for disciplining children is power; in the other words, using physical punishment; For example preventing child from playing with special toy. The children who are growing up with this method are so aggressive. The speaker, however, agrees with this point and he claims that using power to disciplining children decrease their self-steam. So, parents should avoid this strategy.
Next, the reading states withholding of affection as another strategies of disciplining which means rejecting the child. This kind of treating causes insecurity, nervousness and dependency among children.
The final point in the reading is management technique which means set of special rules that are expressed at the proper age; in this way parents use praise according to special rules. The professor in the listening supports this idea and indicates that not only does the management increase the self- steam in children, but also present as a positive reinforcement would be an effective way for disciplining children.
