Both author and lecturer offer two opposing views on methods and their efficiencies for solving the extinction risks of Torreya taxifoha. While the reading passage lists some solution for this danger, the professor counters these specific points and presents some clues to call into question for the information in the text.
First of all, the professor refutes that the reestablishing of trees in the same spot, where is their habitat for a long duration, will be effective. However, in the article, it is named as one of the suitable solutions which can address this problem. Lecturer states that the microclimate of in this specific area is been affected a lot from the global weather alteration. As there is a global warming, the temperature has been increased, and wetlands are drained. Consequently, this location is not as cold as the previous time.
Next, the passage presumes that the new habitat in the further north of Florida with cooler climate is a decent option to deal with this problem. On the contrary, the professor asserts that this execution can be considered as new threaten for the other dominant species. He points to the Black Locus Tree as an example of this issue. As he illustrates, the adaptation of this tree in its new habitat leads to the quick and expand separation of it. In this condition, other trees which thrive there for a long span were in danger of extinction; because the new tree exploits their nutrients. Thus, the new habitat for taxifoha can cause a crisis for the other trees and plants.
Finally, meanwhile, the article uses the surmise of preserving the research center as a possible accountable choice, the professor casts doubt on the efficiency of this option. Based on the professor evidence, a type of tree which has the vary ranges with dense population is more resistance in the actual life. On the other hand, the preserve center has this limitation which cannot cover all variation and population of a specific tree. As a result, even it preserves in the center, it does have no opportunity in the real habitat for surviving.
