Technology, while apparently aimed to simplify our lives, only makes our lives more complicated.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
In today's modern era, everybody is surrounded by technology and technology drives our lives from morning to night. Be it communication, transport, education or networking, technology has brought a huge change in the way we live. I disagree with the statement that technology makes our lives complicated instead of simplifying it.
Decades ago, when mobile phones were not available, one has to send letters for communicating with their near and dear ones and that took days. Inventions of electromagnetic waves has made this so simple that you can reach to your relative in any corner of the world within a second. Moreover, after invention of internet, you can also video call on skype etc, which makes you feel like you are infront of your relative abroad. Not only personal communication but also proffesional communication has become easier and as a result globalisation of businesses has become possible. An IT company in US can get order from an client from Uganda and also get paid online.
Social networking has made a huge change in a way we live. With Facebook you can be in touch with your friends and know whats going on in their lives without meeting them. Also platforms like Quora has made very easy to get information on any topic from experts of that field and that too at free of cost. Also with platforms like Edx.org, you can world class education from top universities like Harvard and MIT at the comfort of your home and that to free of cost. Also nowadays, there are lots of apps available in smartphones to govern almost any need of our lives.
Technology has also improved the ways of transportation. The discovery of steam engine and internal combustion engine has revolutionised the transport. Bikes, scooters, cars, aeroplanes, trains etc has made private as well as public transport very easy.
It is also true that you have to make yourself acquainted with technology, otherwise it may be a reason of discomfort or shame. For example, if you accidently post very private photos of you on facebook, you may invite social shame to you. Also being addicted whatsapp, facebook etc has caused mental enxiety. Some people has to check their messages and FB account like thousand times a day and they feel uneasy if they don't. Though these things complex our lives, their advantages are far more better than these small things.
In short, if you make yourself acquainted with technology it can be hugely simplify your life.
