The chart below gives information about global sales of games software, CDs and DVD or video.
The chart represents the changes in global sales in three electronic items (Games software, DVD/Videos and CDs) from 2000 to 2003. Units are measured in billions of dollars.
Overall, the sales volume of games software increased over the year and CDs were the most sold items in terms of its sales amount. It is interesting to note that, the sales volume for CDs decreased slowly and steadily whereas the rest of items experienced increasing trends.
CDs recorded the highest sales in 2000 of 35 billion of dollars, which figure was decreased steadily by about 2 or 3 billion dollars of sales in worldwide until its sales amount reached at approximately 32 billion dollars.
Concurrently, DVD/Videos had the second highest global sales of which volume was recorded at close to 18 billion dollars whereas games software had the lowest global sales of around 11 billion dollars. The sales amount of those two items increased substantially. Over the year the sales amount of DVD/Videos rose to above 30 billion dollars in 2003, the sales for games software remained almost same in the last two consecutive years at around 18 billion dollars.
