bees nest
In the lecture the professor made several points about feasibility of nests built by bees 200 million years ago. However, the reading passage describes dubious evidence about bees nest. The professors’ lecture casts doubt on the reading on account of the following reasons.
First, the professor states that absence of fossil has little to do with nest constructed by bees dating back 200 million years ago. The professor explains that bees fossil could be maintained in trees with the resin which were rare those years and such a tree are commonplace in modern day. Indeed, bees could not preserve in fossil remain since ancient trees could not produce a resin. In contrast, the reading mentions that absence of fossil remains is distributed to the fact that there were not actual bees.
second , the professor clarifies that early bees were more probably feed on other trees such as pine trees and developing of the trees in later times brings about such as a relationship between flowering plants and bees .on the other hand, the reading passage claims that absence of flowering plant is a convincing evidence to believe that there were not any bees.
Second, the professor is talking about modern bees that protect their chamber nests by waterproof substances with distinctive chemical composition. In other word, watertight substance in fossilized structure of early bees demonstrates that they might use this substance to cover their nest as modern bees. On the contrary, the reading passage highlights that lace of nests bees’ details seems to bring many doubtfull evidences to existence of early bees in those period.
In sum up, the professor's talking refutes that information of the reading passage. Non existence of trees with resin, feeding on trees other than flowering trees and protecting the nests without cap illustrate that about non existence of bees 200 million years is in doubt.
