The line graph below shows changes in the amount and type of fast food consumed by Australian teenagers from 1975 to 2000
The line graph compares the eating of fast food by Australian youngsters in terms of the amount and kinds of food over a period of 25 years.
Overall, Australia saw a high amount of convenience food eaten by teenagers. Hamburgers and pizza were becoming more common; however, there was a drop in the consumption of fish and chips.
In 1975, fish and chips were the first choice of fast food for Australian youth, attracting people to have it 100 times annually. By contrast, hamburgers and pizza were only eaten 10 times and 5 times respectively. Ten years later, there was a sudden rise in the amount of hamburgers, to nearly 90 times per year, while fish and chips consumption dropped to the same number of times with hamburgers.
The downward trend of fish and chips continued to fall dramatically to less than 40 times a year in 2000. In comparison, the number of times people ate hamburgers and pizza spontaneously grew until they reached their peaks at 100 times and 85 times respectively in 1995. After that, these consumption levels remained stable until 2000.
