The line graph illustrates variation in fertility rates of China and the USA over the period from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, the percentage of fertility of both china and the USA saw a decrease during this period. The figure for China was lower then the USA almost all of the time surveyed.
In the year 1920, the proportion og fertility of China was higher than the USA, at about 11% and 10% respectively. In the next ten years, the figures for both countries experienced a similar fluctuation trend., before the figure for the USA became higher in the year 1930. There was a downward trend in the figure for the USA to exactly 5% in 1940. Whereas, the figure chor China flutuated until 1940 but later declined significantly to under 5% in 1945.
The USA’s birth rates reached the peak of 20% in 1950 while the figure for China was 15% this year. However, the USA’s birth rates witnessed a sharp decline in the remainder of the period, to about 3% in 2000 while the figure for China fell gradually to around 7%.
