The professor explains three clear arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the different theories of agnostids living behavior and nutrition.
First, the reading passage claimed that the agnostids might have been free-swimming hunters that caught small and tiny animals because they were good and vibrant swimmers and due to existence of other smaller organisms in ancient oceans, they could access to rich sources of food easily. Howeer, professor sees that all of other types of predator were equipped with strong eyes which allowed them to track prays and hunt them while agnostids were kind of blind creatures and they would have other senses in order to detect victims but there is no evidence that they had developed such senses.
Second, the professor opposes the idea presented in the reading about considering agnostids as a seafloor dwellers because seafloor creatures usually prefer to move slowly and take advantage of smaller geographical area to capture prays, but agnostids were fast-moving organisms which could able to swim swiftly.
Third and last, the reading passage asserts that agnostids were probably parasites which stayed in larger organism's body and feed off them; organisms like primitive fish or other larger animals. In contrast, the professor disproves the idea due to the fact that parasites are limited in population because if their population increase in hostage's body, they would kill it and lose a rich source of food. But, as evidences indicate, agnostids' population was very large and they couldn't be live in other species body, therefore, she repudiated the theory of parasites.
In summary, the professor has gone totally against the theories presented in the reading passage. It stated that agnostids weren't be free-swimming predators as well as seafloor dwellers; in addition, they couldn't be parasites too. So, scientists should do more researched in order to shed light on this ambiguous issue.
