The bar chart provides information about the proportion of urban/suburban household that had internet connection in an European country over a five-year period between the years 2008 and 2013.
Overall, it can be seen that there was a significant upward trend for the whole period in both urban/suburban and rural areas. The percentage in urban/suburban areas remained greater than the percentage in rural areas during the years shown on the graph.
In 2008, only 15% of homes in urban area had internet access, while less than 5% of rural homes had it. By the next year there was a considerable increase by about 15% in the urban/suburban homes, whereas in the rural homes it had increased slightly to just over 5%. In 2010, the percentage for urban/suburbarn house rose by about 10%, hit the highest point at 40%, making it four time as higher as the percentage in rural area. Over the next years, internet access continued to soar in both areas. Between 2011 and 2013 the amount of people with internet access in urban/suburnan areas remained steady at around 50%. In the meantime, the percentage of rural homes with internet connection continued climbing and reached 35% by 2013.
