The chart below shows the numbers of male and female research students studying six science-related subjects at a UK university in 2009.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the gender distribution of students doing scientific research on six subjects at a UK university in 2009.

It is evident from the chart that men almost play the majority role in every subject, except for veterinary medicine.

Male students exceedingly outnumbered female in natural science disciplines: physics, astronomy and geology. In physics, men had such a large proportion that the percentage of male students was five times as much as that of female students.

Coincide, the gender gap was narrowed in health-related subjects. The proportion of male and female students in biology was approximately the same. That was also true with medicine, where there were nearly as many women (approximately 200), as men (approximately 180). Especially, female students made up for a larger percentage than that of male students in veterinary medicine.

Overall, the bar chart shows that natural science disciplines are popular with male while women have a substantial presence in health-related subjects.
