TPO44

In the reading passage the writer contends that there are several reasons that an age-old European silver coin discovered in the state of Maine is not genuine historical evidence but a historical fake; however, in the lecture, the professor completely refutes all the reading points by presenting several reasons and examples.

First of all, the writer claims that the great distance between the Maine site and European explores settlements known as the Norse, suggests that the coin has no real connection with the settlements; on the other hand, the professor rejects this notion by stating that many other objects founded there came from far distance inasmuch as native American were interested to unusual objects.

Moreover, the writer also maintains that no other coins have been found at the sites that were inhabited by the Norse; in contrast, the professor again takes issues with this statement and explains that no other coins in the place cannot reject the possibility of the presence of the coins. She is of the opinion that it is possible that they took back all the coins to the European with themselves when they moved back.

In addition, the writer also manifests that silver coins may have been useless to the native American; on the contrary, the lecture again is against this statement and states that the native who were interested in unusual objects could have used them for making jewelry or necklaces.
