tpo-11-integrated
The lecturer is making some points, in contrast to the passage, saying that just becasus people are reading less literature novels, it does not mean that people are not reading other sorts of intellectually challanging books. Like scientific books, there is no reason to assume that people are not reading that kind of chalanging books.
Granted, there are not that many people very compassionate about science, so an assumption that the lecturer makes might not be wrong. She assumes that people not reading litreature novels, are not reading challanging books from anywhere else either. The lecturer argues that this is no reason to say those people have a lower level of culture or that the average level of culture in the community has dropped, because some people might enjoy listening rather than reading books or watching movies. Who can say watching a movie is low form of culture?
She also argues about the authors, that it might even be kind of their fault that fewer people are reading books. The lecturer disagrees with the passage about the fact that this is the age of good writers and there are a lot of good books being published. Even economicly that does not make sence. She believes if they had enough work, they would have been familiar with the community that they are living in and they might not even buy their own books.
