TPO 40 Integrated
Both the lecture and the reading discuss the posibility for human to live on Venus. However, they hold a contradic idea.
First, the reading passage claims that because of the heavy atmospheric pressure, all spacecrafts will be crushed, while the lecturer disagrees. The lecturer proposes that we can build a floating space station which is 15 kilometers away from the Venus' surface. The pressure 15 kilometers above is just like the pressure on Earth. By doing so, nothing will be crushed by the heavy pressure on Venus.
Secondly, the writer says that there are lack of water and oxygen which are both essential to human on Venus. On the other hand, the lecturer points out that despite of few water vapor and oxygen, humans can use abunden chemical materials such as carbon dioxide on Venus to make them.
Last but not the least, the writer suggests that most of the sunlight on Venus is either reflected or blocked, so humans are not able to use solar power cells. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes that the cloud on Venus is not very thick. Even some sunlight is reflected, humans still can collect and utilize them.
In sum, the author offers three reasons to support the impossibility for human to live on Venus, but the lecturer disagrees with them by providing three convincing arguments.
