The lecture and the reading passage both discuss a type of tree common in Florida, and started to die out. And Torreya trees will become extinct soon. On one hand, the reading mentions three possible solutions to prevent the trees decline. On the other hand, the lecture refutes the solutions in the reading passage.

First of all, the reading states that they have to grow these trees in their favorable climate in Northern Florida's because this region has wet and cool climate. However, the lecture argues that by saying this area has a dryer climate due to global worming so this lead to increase the temperature.

Secondly, the reading emphasize that they have to grow it far away from its Florida microclimate, and this process is called assisted migration. Conversely, the lecture makes argument by saying this idea is not good. And the professor said, they applied this idea in a type of trees is called black lockus and planted it in the north and the result was huge spreading that threatened the other species. So, the result was unpredictable out come.

Lastly, the reading claims that they have to move these trees from the wild life to closely monitored environment, that will help them to protect the species and conduct research on Torreya. In contrast, the lecture refutes this by pointing out that trees will not be able to resist any diseases when moving it, that will lead to further decline.
