TPO 40 Q 1
The reading claims that it is not possible for human to maintain a permanent presence on Venus and provide three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that it might be possible. He explained a new idea that the station can be floating in the atmospher and 50 killometers above of the venus' surfance. He finds all the reading's ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
First, the author argues that the atmospheric pressure at venus' surface is at least 90 times greater than the pressure at earth's surface. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that using above idea can solve this problem. By increasing the hight the pressure will be droped consequently. So making a floating station 50 kilometers above the surface can guarantee the equal pressure which earth surface has.In this case there is not any crushed.
Furthermore, the reading posits that there are no water or oxygen on venus' surface. On the contrary, the professor underlines the fact that the author already admit that there are corbon dioxid and sulfuric acid on the venus' surface. Human can use these chemical and compound them to produce water and oxygen and they dont need to import them.
Finally, the reading holds the view that very little sunlught reaches the planet's surface because of the thick clouds. In contrast, the speaker dismissed this issue due to the fact that although the statement is true, using the idea of making floating station can be solve this problem as well. Since the clouds in the atmosphere are not as thick as the clouds in the lower layer solar cells can benefit of more sunlight. Also, solar cells can use the sunlight which get reflected by the thick clouds in the lower layer. In another word they can use both direct and reflected sunlight.
