task 1: car ownership
The line graph compares information about car ownership in England between 1971 and 2007.
Overall, it is clear from the line graph that car ownership of three or more cars was by far lowest during the research period. At the same time, the number of no car and two cars experienced the most dramatic change.
In 1971, the number of no car began at about 48% and then decreased gradually to 30% in 1995. The figures for one car, two cars were lower at about 10%, around 8% respectively, whereas three or more cars accounted for the lowest number with only approximately 1% in 1971. Despite some fluctuations, the number of no car declined gradually through the period, ending at about 25% in 2007.
There was a slight decrease in the figure for one car to about 44% in 2007, compared with 27% of two cars. Meanwhile, three or more cars saw a sharp rise, reaching the final figure of 7% in 2007
