The table compares the numbers of prisoners from 1930 to 1980 in 5 different countries, namely the Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the United States America and Canada. At a glance, the graph reveals that the imprisonment figure in the USA is the highest among them.
First and foremost, the Great Britain stayed the with the lowest figure at about 30 inmates in 1930 and in gradually increased for the given period reaching over 80 inmates in 1980. Unlike the GB, Canada shows a downward trend. Even though Canada was the region with the highest number of prisoners at approximately 120 prisoners in 1930, it dwindled by about 30 prisoners for the period.
Turning to Australia and USA, both of two countries have the same trend that they fluctuate for the given 5 decades. However, the figures are significantly different. Australia's prisoners remained between 70 and 45 while the figure for USA oscillated between 95 and 135. Last but not least, New Zealand depicts the most considerable change between 1930 and 1940 accounting for a drop by 40 and then it steadily increased for the rest period.
In summary, over 5 decades, the numbers of prisoners in US and GB illustrate an upward trend while in other two countries, they did some progress. Australia had the least number of prisoners which indicates their betterment in law and order.
