The line graph compares different outdoor sports in term of the number of participants from 1975 to current time in the South West of England.
It is clear that there has been a significant change in the rate of young people taking part in various sports. The number of participants in jogging or running and swimming has increased in comparison with this in ball games and biking or roller skating.
As can be seen from the chart, in 1975, 34% of young people chose ball games to play. This proportion of people remained stable for 10 years, then dramatically decreased to approximately 20% in 2000 and has not changed considerably to the present day. Also, there has been a decrease of about 9% in the percentage of people who ride bikes and roller skate, from 25% to approximately 16%.
However, there is a steady rise in the rate of people who go swimming. It remained the same proportion of 15% in the first period, gradually increased from 1980 to 2000 and then striking go up to 35% in current time. Although jogging and running is the sport with the lowest rate of chosen, it has gradually grown over the past 30 years.
