The tables below give information about sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 to 2004 in five European countries
The tables given reveal some stricking changes in selling coffee and bananas which produced by farmers in developing countries in five different Europe countries over a six-year period from 1999 to the year 2004.
A closer look at the tables, coffee was the product that increased in all countries, while, bananas were fall in Swenden and Denmark after 6 years.
It can be seen that, coffee was consumed more and more in Europe. United Kingdom was the countries where had the most dramatic change in sales, there was a considerable development in the sales of coffee ( from 1.5 millions to 20 millions in 2004). Follow by Switzerland, the figure was increased twofold from 3 millions in 1999 to 6 millions in 2004. In addition to this, three other countries, namely Denmark, Belgium and Sweden also has a growth in selling coffee although they were not a huge changes.
In the second table, Switzerland's sales of bananas was higher than four other countries, which increased more than threefold (from 15 millions in 1999 to 47 millions in 2004). UK and Belgium had a considerably changes in sales too, the UK's figure grew from 1 million to 5.5 millions after 6 years, while Belgium's rose from just 0.6 millions to 4 millions. However, in two countries Sweden and Denmark, the sales of Fairtrade-labelled bananas was decline ( 1.8 millions to 1 million in Sweden and 2 millions to 0.9 millions in Denmark).
