Some people tend to judge a person on the basis of first observation. Some people believe it takes a long time to know a person well. Which approach to knowing people do you think is better and why?
People around the world are not same. There are similarities and differences but no two people are exactly same. Some people judge a person by the saying "First impression is the last impression", while others take a long time to know a person well before building any perceptions. In my opinion, latter is a better approach to knowing people.
The world is very dynamic and so are the people living in it. On certain days we feel happy, on certain others we feel gloomy and for rest of the days we feel a mix of emotions. Some people are introverts while others are extrovert and few others may behave in a certain way under some conditions. When we meet a person for the first time we are seeing only a part of his/ her personality which could just be a mask at that particular instance. There are a lot of unknowns to that personality which can only be explored gradually over a period of time.
Some people take a while to open up to others. They feel comfortable to talk to others over a period of time. So, when we take longer to know a person, we know about their likes and dislikes. Over a period of time it is possible to rationalize a pattern in the behavior of a person, it is possible to assume correctly as to how and why a person is behaving in a certain way and then make a right judgement about a person. Hence, the first impression may just give a glimpse but the actual personality can only be judged over a period of time.
