The given charts provide an overview for the percentage of students having the ability to talk other languages than English, in a university in England in year 2000 and 2010.
A glance at the charts reveals that Spanish was by far the most popular language in both years and students tended to learn another language other than their native one more in 2010 compared to 2000.
As it can be seen, while the percentage of pupils who know German remained steady about 10% in both years, the rate of students who know France decreased slightly from 15% in 2000 to only 10% in 2010. Moreover, 20% of students were reluctant to learn another language in the first period, while the number students who learnt at least one other language grew sharply in 2010.
Interestingly, the overall percentage students knowing one or two other languages saw a rise from 25% to 35% in 2000 and 2010 respectively.
All in all, students had great tendency in learning other languages, especially Spanish in year 2010 in comparison with its rate in 2000.
