TPO 27 integrated writing Little ice age

The lecture and the reading passage discuss the little ice age which occurred about 1350 until 1900 CE. Although the passage mentions several possible causes for the little ice age, the speaker refutes them through a number of reasons which I will describe in this report.

First of all, the reading passage indicates that melting glaciers were sent cold water to the Gulf stream and reducing the water temperature. In contrast, the lecture opposes this view by mentioning that cold water only sends to the Europen and North America. But, the little ice age happened in the southern hemisphere such as Newsland and Africa. In these places the Gulf stream that could not be affected by the Gulf Stream. Therefore, the Gulf Stream disruption is not a good reason for little ice age occurrence.

Second, the reading argues that eruption the volcano made some think cloud that prevents sunlight to the earth, and it made the cold temperature in the earth; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. He points that the volcanos did not make a lot of think cloud, because if the dark cloud made at the sky, people would see dark snow or little sunlight. But there is not any report of these phenomena in historical evidence and this hypothesis may not be possible.

Finally, according to the reading, the human population were decreased by some disease; therefore, the forests grow and emit CO2 from the atmosphere. However, the speaker believes that for a little period the human population were increased, and they grow back the previous level soon. Hence, they started to cut the trees for making land. And in these lands, they cultivated some crops as food for people. Thus there was not enough time for the forests to have any effect on the climate and cause the little ice age.
