The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.
The illustration describes various stages in the life of a salmon in three different places, namely river, estuary, and ocean.
Overall, it is immediately clear that a salmon experiences numerous life stages to become an adult fish.
At the first stage of a salmon’s life, female adults lay their eggs in rivers. After that, these eggs develop into emergences mainly living in freshwater before moving to the estuary to start a completely important phrase of their life cycle. With the availability of abundant food for their rearing, these teenage salmons increase in size and begin to migrate to other areas. Subsequently, they finish their adolescent time and reach full maturity in the ocean. Finally, these adult salmons conduct their responsibility, namely reproduction by moving back to rivers which is known as their spawning areas to lay their eggs to start a new salmons’ generation. This cycle happens over and over in nature.
