The bar chart below show the percantage of households in rented and owned apartments in England and Wales in 1919 and 2011
The bar chart presents the percentage of families living in owned and rented houses in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. It can be clear that the percentage of families in owned houses has a significant increasing trend in the period of time while that of families in rented accommodation decreased. At the beginning of the period of time, the number of households in rented apartments peaked with about 80%, whereas that of households in owned hit the bottom with about 20%. The proportion of families in owned and rented in 1939 and 1953 have equal was equal, respectively approximately 30% and 70%. The period from 1961 to 2001 witnessed the gradual downward pattern of the proportion of households in rented houses, while that of households in owned houses went up steadily and peaked at 70% in 2011. At the end of the time, the figure of households in rented apartments raised slightly while the number of households in owned apartments decreased inconsiderably.
