TPO50 -Integrated task
In term of whether travel to the mars today is impossible or not the article and the lecturer contradict each other. the author in the reading states that traveling to the mars has a various challenge which is not easy as travel to the moon and states some reasons. on the other hand, the professor in the lecture refute this claim and states that travel to the mars has many difficulties but it is possible.
First, the author claims that the trip to the mars takes at least two years which it needs enough supplies of food, water, and oxygen. on the contrary, the lecturer refutes this claims and asserts that nowadays there is a technique which named hydroponic that help astronomer to grow plants and foods in the spacecraft. They use soil for cultivating everything in the space. moreover, they can recycle wastewater with evaporation and make fresh air by co2 emission and oxygen release.
secondly, the reading asserts that astronomer spending many times in the zero-gravity situation which leads to some negative aspects on their bodies such as, muscle weakening and lower bone density. in contrast, the speaker disclaims this idea and contends that several spaceships can maintain astronomers in the zero-gravity environment furthermore, there are some techniques which help to astronomers to preserve their bodies from any harm, for instance, regular exercise and calcium vitamins can help them.
Finally, the article points out that spacemen would be exposed to the detrimental level of solar radiation. The professor in the lecture cast doubt to this concept and profess that this radiation is not dangerous every time and that harmful effects are occasionally. in addition, there are many instruments which provide a safety shield for astronauts.
in the nutshell, according to the aforementioned reasons, the professor rejects author arguments and states that traveling to the mars in possible.
