The table shows the proportion of pupils attending four secondary school types between 2000 and 2009
The table illustrates the percentage of student apply for four different secondary school types from 2000 to 2009.
Overall, three school types, namely Specialist Schools, Grammar Schools and Voluntary-controlled Schools, have seen the decrease of proportions of pupils, while Community Schools became more popular in secondary education system in the same period.
In details, Voluntary-controlled Schools accounted for the highest rate of four school types in initial year with 52%, then dropped sharply to 20% in 2009. Similarly, the number of student of Grammar Schools steadily collaspe by half (from 24% to 12%) in the same year. Speacialist Schools also had a decrease of pupils in nine year but in a relative small figure. (2%)
In terms of Community Schools, while only a small minority of 12% pupils in 2000, this figure rose toward to over the half, approximately 5 times higher during following nine years. (from 12% to 58%)
