The passage states about most known painter Rembrandt's older woman painting doubted by the experts that the painting was not his original masterpiece which is disagreed by lecturer with following statements.
First of all, the reading passage rises evidence that older woman dress was inconsistent due to her servant hat and precious fur. This statement criticized by lecturer that the fur was painted after the painting was done to increasing value by overlying original painting. For example, luxurious fur made older woman look more wealthier than poor servant.
Secondly, reading passage believes that portrait's unfitted shadow and light indicating the painting was not Rembrandt's because such famous painter would not make mistake on such thing. However, lecturer gives evidence that the lady was wearing white cotton,the natural light and dress color will reflect shadow to face but additional fur makes painting unrealistic.
Lastly, the last evidence reading passage state about is wood that supports back of the painting. In original portrait wood was glued together but there is no painting glued pieces of wood in his painting. This statement was explained by lecturer that those glued wood was added after the painting was done also to increase painting value and make painting more grande. Moreover, Rembrandt used to glued wood in his some painting such as his portrait with hat.
In conclusion, lecturer have struck contrast with the passage by denying every fact mentioned in reading passage.
