The maps illustrate the alterations that happened in the centre of a town between 1700 and today. At first glance, it is evident that the most noticeable changes occurred for the increasing number of the houses in present time.
To begin with the south part of the city, a new road had been constructed in the position of Steggle farm and house in 1700 where it runs to the north of the town. To the south of the high street, there were several new houses, new shops and supermarket which had replaced the place of fields, shops and house respectively in previous time.
In accordance with the other changes, the presence Goode farm, stables and 2 house areas had been altered by the existence of car park, numerous new houses and block of flats respectively. Furthermore, the size of hotel in 1700 had been expand into larger building today. In contrast, the presence of the market square and church remained unchanged over the entire period.
