The two graphs below show the percentage of smokers and the consumption of alcohol in litres in selected countries for the period 1960 - 2000.
The figures illustrated the level of smoker and the use of alcohol in litres in three developed countries from three different continents for the period 1960 - 2000.
In general, it can be seen from the graphs that USA topped both in smoke percentage and alcohol consumption among the countries.
In the first chart, it is showed that percentage of smoker in USA declined sharply during 1970-1980. From 1980, USA & Japan continued to fall back steadily towards 2000. Holland, on the other hand, started with 40% in 1960, and declined slightly towards 2000.
According to the second chart, it is reported that the alcohol consumption in USA & Turkey remained unstable during 1960-2000. Eventhough Holland's alcohol consumption rose dramatically 1960 onwards, but declined slightly until 2000.
Interestingly there was a significant decrease in the percentage of American graph both in smoker population & alcohol consumption since 1980 onwards.
Overall, it can be concluded that percentage of smoker population in three countries levelled off towards 2000. On the other side, alcohol consumption growth until 1980, and remained unstable onwards.
