Your local council is considering closing a sport and leisure centre that it runs in order to save money. Write a letter to the local council.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in respect to your proposed closure of the sports and leisure facilities in our community due to financial issues. I would like you to please reconsider your decision because this centre is very essential to all the members of area.
Firstly, I and my family use this facility to exercise on a daily basis, my parents usually play table tennis together every Saturday morning before going shopping for the family. In addition, my sister also likes to swim at the centre swimming pool to prepare her for regional swimming competition coming up next month.
Needless to say, most youths also use this place as a meeting point to relax and have fun, the senior citizens too comes to exercise and play with their friends and family members.
However, should the local council proceed with the centre closure, it will have a detrimental effects on individuals and the entire community. Most people live a sedentary lifestyles and this is the only functional gym in the area. It will likely endanger our health due to increase in overweight related diseases. It is also a place of bonding for all the members of the community.
I hope you will have a rethink about your decisions.
Yours sincerely,
Mary Jane.
